Tennis-Club-Illois rhymes with success and two titles gleaned by Virginie Garcia and Thibaut Perpère.
The departmental championships which happened at the Capellans in Saint-Cyprien gave the Tennis-club Illois (TCI) the alternative to shine.
Virginie Garcia, in the 4th sequence, with solely three years of tennis, achieved a efficiency by profitable the remaining 6/0, 6/1 in opposition to Claudine Saint-Dizier, after going by a way more sophisticated semi-final in opposition to Nadia Vidal (5/7, 6/3, 6/3). “It was played on little, on details. I managed to finish on the important balls”. The remaining was simpler. “I was focused from start to finish and I didn’t make any mistakes. The advantage is that we played under cover”. Having gone from volleyball to tennis, Virginie is the pleasure of the club. “She is the very type of the beginner competitor who has made good progress”, summarizes its president Christian Chappelle. “It’s a pride”, underlines Virginie, who doesn’t intend to cease there. “ I want to progress. I will go up to the 3rd series, go from 30/1 to 30 and I hope to finish at the end of the season at 15/5″. The upturn in the club proved conducive to its emergence. “The advantage in Ille is that everyone trains with everyone, regardless of level, the men with the women. Everyone knows each other”. Thibaut Perpère went for the title in the third sequence in opposition to Mathias Laffon (6/1, 7/6). “He’s the best player I’ve met in the whole draw. He managed to change his game in the second set and I had to adapt”. Former 2nd sequence participant, taken by his work, Thibaut returns to his finest stage. “I am currently 15/1, I was 15/4 at the start of the departmental championship. I have no objective, except to do well with the Ille team. I fish a little in concentration. My quality is my tennis past. I started in Ille at the age of 7. I made finals, including this first trophy in the 9-10 years old category in 1996 with Nicolas Julia”. Nothing stops the TCI and nothing escapes its president Christian Chappelle: “It’s a lot of pride. These results represent the dynamics of the club. We have two victories. With the case of Virginie which started three years ago and which shows the great progress of the whole club. Thibaut c’ is the victory of continuity. He is a child of the club who returns to his best level”.
