This Wednesday, July 29, the Tennis-club of Saint-Quay-Portrieux (Côtes-d´Armor) received the “Club Roland-Garros” label. It is now one of the few clubs, five in Brittany and one hundred in France, honored with this distinction.
“You give a soul to this club”
Marie-Christine Peltre, president of the Brittany league, has also traveled from Dinard (Ille-et-Vilaine) to give the president, Charles Guillemot, the precious sesame.
She did not fail to salute the work accomplished to deserve this distinction. “You thus give a soul to your club, which favors clay tennis, which is for me the queen of surfaces, she commented. Beach clubs like yours have, of course, a big role to play in the development of our discipline. You already have the Tennis sport santé label, a sign of excellent work. “
“We do not give up”
For his part, President Charles Guillemot welcomed the award. “We are doing everything to ensure that the club thrives and lives, with the support of the municipality. This year is special, without our tournament, but we are not giving up ”.
These efforts were also welcomed by the mayor, Thierry Simelière. “You have equipment in the heart of the city that we support and whose technical services maintain the courts. You have reached the high level with your international tournament, but we must also salute your tennis school. With this label, it is the work of all the leaders that is highlighted, a great recognition ! “
The Tennis-club takes the opportunity to recall its doubles tournament, which will take place from Monday 3 to Sunday 9 August, on the site, place Jean-Baptiste-Barrat.
