Russian tennis player Yana Sizikova was arrested in Paris Thursday night for sports corruption and fraud in an organized group, two French police sources advised CNN.
She was arrested and taken into police custody Thursday for “sports corruption and swindling in an organized group, involving acts that could have been committed in September 2020”, in line with the Paris prosecutor’s workplace.
Sizikova was arrested shortly after shedding her doubles match at Roland Garros on Thursday, a Parisian police supply advised CNN.
The 26-year-old is suspected of taking part in match-fixing in 2020 when she purposely misplaced a doubles match at the Roland Garros match final 12 months, in line with the supply.
CNN is making an attempt to succeed in a consultant for Sizikova for remark, whereas the International Tennis Integrity Agency has mentioned that is the duty of French police.
The Russian Tennis Federation advised the Russian state information company TASS that it was awaiting paperwork on the case of the Russian tennis player’s arrest.
