Our colleagues from Puntodebreak, presents us an actual doc this January 3. An extended interview with the (*27*) participant Carlos Boluda the place he confirms that he is not going to return to the courts as a participant.
Huge hope of world tennis, terror of youth competitions, twice winner of the Petits As (2006 and 2007), Carlos panicked all counters at the time. Today, aged 27, caught in future tournaments, he has “finally” to determine to cease his profession.
His testimony is poignant, and finally resembles these of the hopes dredged up by sponsors of their youth and who subsequently returned to whole anonymity for lack of efficiency.
The phrases are harsh and the remark is nearly terrifying for this tennis fanatic: “Each year that went by in my tennis career, I had one less person by my side. My family has helped me a lot but they are not from the tennis world. I am not “burned”, a “burned” person is a person who doesn’t even want to train. Right now, I could train eight hours straight, but that’s not the point anymore. I lost the urge. All my life I’ve invested money in tennis, I think that’s the way it should be, but there comes a time when the books are dry. My heart may ask me to play tennis, but the wallet doesn’t think the same. I know my best ranking was 254th, I know what it’s like to play on the Challenger circuit. What I can tell you is that being 254th I didn’t win any money, luckily I never played tennis thinking about money. In January, I will be 28 years old, if I continue without earning a euro, it is not logical ”
