Between Nantes and La Baule, the Domaine de la Bretesche is practiced all year round. High class.
Club ride in hand
Bucolic at will, the 18-holes of this French-style resort stretch around a 15th century castle, in a forest of hundred-year-old trees. Oaks, maple trees, liquidambars and acacias are regularly planted there, while beds of rhododendrons, roses and hydrangeas bloom in all seasons. Golf has also just offered a signature hole, the 17, a par 3 whose green is now bordered by a huge water hazard.
From € 55 the green fee, € 67 with lunch, € 46 on Tuesday.
5 star refuge
Accommodation on site is also magical. The outbuildings of the castle house a 5-star Relais & Château offering an indoor swimming pool, a spa and a gourmet restaurant, driven by Frédéric Murati, ex-double star at the Michelin Guide in Belgium. In an exemplary eco-responsible approach, he cooks the products of his vegetable garden in permaculture and puts Atlantic fish in the spotlight, all from sustainable fishing. For a more rural stay, we like cottages scattered in the forest.
From € 235 for 2 people. The Greening package includes one night, breakfasts and green fees. bretesche.com

Several offers make it possible to shine on the region’s courses. The Brière pass opens the doors to Guérande, La Baule and La Bretesche (240 € with lunch). The Atlantic Golf Pass offers three green fees at La Baule, Nantes-Vigneux, Saint-Jean-de-Monts or La Brestesche (156 €).
