The French Federation of Vintage Vehicles will unveil a plaque on Saturday July 10, which shall be fastened on the panel positioned on the remaining space, in entrance of the cemetery.
Races that drew as much as 50,000 spectators
This place was used within the Fifties as a motorcycle park, as half of the Obernai-Bernardswiller International Motorcycle Speed Circuit. The races, organized from 1956 to 1961, drew as much as 50,000 spectators.
To have fun the 60e anniversary of the races, a day of festivities is deliberate for Saturday July 10, with a motorcycle exhibition beginning at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., the commemorative plaque shall be unveiled, adopted by a wine of honor. Note the presence of Maurice Metz, creator of a ebook on the circuit.
A second tribute shall be paid to this heritage on August 27, by Alsace Rallye Festival. Indeed, the rally shall be passing by and the vehicles which have marked the historical past of rallies from the 60s till the start of the XXIe century shall be half of it.
The Alpines, Audi Quattro, Lancia Stratos and different Peugeot 205 turbo 16s will set off from rue Sainte-Odile for 2 laps of the circuit.
